Studio practice
Technique
My work is hand built using slab construction and coiling and is guided by an organic approach to form. Working with primarily New Zealand clays, I often incorporate sand, ash, plant fibre, and recycled rock fines to build surface character. Form and surface are sculpted using tools ranging from dremmels to angle grinders, layered with oxides, slips, engobes, glass frit, dry glazes, and raw clay finishes.
Process
My process is deeply iterative: pieces are carved, surfaced, and re-carved across multiple drying and firing stages. By continuously revisiting each piece, form, color, and texture accumulate over time through a shared dialogue with the material.
Scale & Collaboration
Beyond standalone sculptural works, my practice extends into site-specific installations and multi-element compositions. I welcome inquiries for architectural commissions, gallery exhibitions, and public art projects.
